Etude House - Play 101 Pencils

How many ways can you use a pencil liner? Normally, you only use them to line your eyes, right? Etude House has managed to release their Play 101 Pencils that are designed for multi-use! Depending on the color, you can use them for eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip liner, blush, highlighter or concealer. The colors are ample and as always, so gorgeous, but how well do they last?

This is what the pencils themselves look like. I love the design and its twist function to reveal more eyeliner. I have a strong dislike for pencil liners that require sharpening since it wastes more product and you have to deal with the mess it makes. Big thumbs up to Etude House for the packaging!

Time to get on to the colors! I initially only purchased #25 and #42 when I went to Korea in May. After I returned home, I tried them and was obsessed. Luckily for me, Etude House was having a free shipping event recently so I immediately jumped on that and purchased a bunch of their Play 101 pencils. I hope to have their entire collection one day. haha.

Swatches are available after the pictures.

Here's the swatches! Aren't the colors so pretty?!

Smudge Test: I waited about 10 mins before I smudged it. The colors with the glossy finish smudged very easily. These are perfect as a lip color as it provides a smooth finish and its easy to blend. Only downside is that you will have to reapply after you eat.

Water Resistant Test: This is the result after running it in warm water and rubbing a few times. Seems that #11, 13, 16, 42 and 59 did the best at staying put!

KETCHUP BRAISED OX TAILS

Ingredients:

(2) lb of Ox Tails
(1) Onion
(4) Carrots
(1/2) of a Radish
(2) Cloves of Garlic
(1) Inch of Ginger, sliced

(1/2) Cup of Ketchup (you can add more/less if you like)
(1/2) Cup of Soy Sauce
(1) Tablespoon of Brown Sugar
(1) Tablespoon of Olive Oil
(1/4) Cup of Sake

Original recipe here

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add Ox Tails and wait until water returns to a boil. Then rinse the ox tails in cold water and put aside.

Stir fry the ginger and garlic until it starts to brown. Then add onions. Cook for about 5 mins, then add the ox tails, radish and carrots into the pot. Add enough water to cover all the ingredients completely. Add soy sauce and sake.

Then slowly simmer the ox tails for 1.5 hours with the lid on and another 1.5 hrs without the lid on. The water should be reduced quite a bit. Then add the sugar and ketchup and simmer for another 30 mins.

Cargo Blush Haul

This post has been long due. I purchased these a while back during a 40% off sale on ideel.com. These pictures were taken when I first received them, but I completely forgot to post them up! So here it is now~

Here is what the packaging looks like when you take it out of the box. I love the aluminum packaging. It makes it look really high end. :)

Ibiza
Rome
Los Cabos
Bali
Laguna
Catalina
Water Resistant Bronzer
Here are the swatches of the colors above. They look so pretty and are wearable colors everyday... okay maybe Laguna is a bit dark as an everyday office color, but it's extremely gorgeous in person. I would just going lightly with this color. The rest are very buildable! My favorite would probably be Rome. It's a little more pigmented in color as well, but it's definitely a wearable peachy pink for the office.

From Left to Right: Ibiza, Rome, Los Cabos, Bali, Laguna, Catalina, Bronzer
I decided to do a test on the staying power of the blushes. The below is the result after I ran a tissue over it 3 times. As shown, the colors come off quite easily so you may have to touch up once throughout the day, but I like my blushes to fade off throughout the day. It also works in my favor because I tend to have a heavier hand when applying makeup.. so I can easily wipe some off to lighten up the color if I mess up. It also makes blending the blush very easy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is totally late, but better late than never, right? :) What kind of New Years resolutions have you guys made this year? I actually didn't make any for myself, only because I never fulfill them. haha. However, I will try to be healthier by exercising! I actually have access to a gym now so it'll be much easier to push myself to go!

I recently moved to a new home. It's super exciting because I'm living on my own now. Finally taking those big girl steps... one at a time. It's definitely a little more difficult to be living without my parents though. I have to prepare my own food, clean the apartment, pay the bills. However, it still feels nice to be living outside of my parents home. Anyways, here are some pictures of my new place!
